We are pleased to introduce "Azumi Naito Exhibition --Children in Miniascapes--." It was 2021 when Mr. Naito won the Showakai Exhibition Showakai Award with his drawing of a child standing behind a balance beam. Since it was during the Covid-19 epidemic, his fabulous expressions with bright colors and light touch of the insecure time faced by us who live in the modern world were highly evaluated and drew attention.
The common themes of his recent production are "play" and "growth." "Play" precedes "culture" and is considered to be essential for any human cultures, though in the process, "rules" are set in "play" which is created as a voluntary act and "freedom" is taken away before we know, making the rules to tie us down. Mr. Naito uncovered such inherent nature of human beings and worked on the works to be exhibited at this exhibition by being aware of the condescending viewpoint of the society which tries to define such nature of human beings with the idea of social model.
Please enjoy his spirited works to uncover the human nature and society's real picture through the playing children at this exhibition.
