1887 studied under Sachihiko Soyama
1894 He was inspired by Kuroda Seiki, and participated in the“Tenshin school”
1895 received third class at National Industrial Exhibition
1896 Established “Hakuba kai” in the form of becoming independent from the Meiji Art Society with Seiki Kuroda,
and became an assistant professor at Tokyo Art University that set up new department of Western department
1987 studied in Paris, and became Raphael Collin’s (1850 - 1916) pupil
1902 Returned to Japan, and became a professor of Tokyo Art University
1912 Establish a “Hongo European Painting research institute” with Takeji Fujishima
1918 got an offer of from Government General of Taiwan of wall painting at city government office, and visited Taiwan
for the meeting. He was a prominent member of The Japan Art Academy and Imperial Art
1937 received the Cultural Medal
