Yoshitake Ukai Exhibition
Points, Lines and Circles
October 2, 2024 - October 15, 2024 Closed Sundays and holidays
Mr. Ukai won the Kenzo Matsumura Award at the Showakai Exhibition in 2015. He is a Japanese style paining artist who expresses animals vividly and colorfully with mineral pigments. This is his second time to hold a large exhibition at the main gallery of Galerie Nichido.
The theme of this exhibition is "Points, Lines and Circles." "Points" mean the particles of mineral pigments, "lines" mean expression of ink and brush and "circles" are the group of art pieces of the animals with great contrast as if they were approaching with the background of circles which are the center of this exhibition. "Circle" in Japanese is pronounced "En" which also has the meaning of "connection."
Lives including himself as a human do not stand alone and are connected to all lives and affect each other. It is expressed with various animals of his specialty as motifs. Approximately 30 pieces of his spirited paintings from large ones to small ones are definitely "must-see."
